WOW must be nice!
Merry Christmas Chris, tremendous show!!
That was very informative. I opened up an opus one 1999. Merry Christmas!
I recently opened the 1996 which was also a tremendous vintage. I also thought that it needed a lot of time. Great show.
i can’t imagine spending 500-1k on a bottle and have it only be a 93. wow. great heads-up.
Love it hope new years wine is picked out
People say california cabs are overpriced. I don’t get it. How about the price of bordeaux’s? There are over priced and at 12.5% alcohol come one.
Ben,
Your are crazy, you need to expand your horizons.
Chris, nice review but I think you are underrating this wine. You talk about the backbone and complexity and that is exactly what makes Margaux different from California cabs. There is so much going on that you don’t even know where to start. I have not had the 95 but did have the 93 and it was quite an experience.
Different palates different opinions, that is what is great about wine. I love both styles!
That’s some fancy juice. When did you buy it? What was the price at release? I guess I could look it up but…… Good job slowing down and really getting to some details. Let us know if it opened up or got better as the day went on.
I bought it a few years ago in the 300 dollar range through someone I know. I am not sure what the release price was, the 2006 is selling in the 500’s. Yes, it improved a little but I would keep my score at 93+to 94+ It was a great bottle of wine. Just tough to justify that price.
AWESOME episode, great tasting notes.
Did you like the Haut Brion or Margaux better?
Chris great detail, I ike the extended episode. great job.
Chris, how did the wine show when your dad tasted it? Did it improve? The few from the northern left bank I’ve had from the 1995 vintage, Dauzac in particular still seemed tight, hope it loosened up for you guys.
It loosened up a little but I still think has about 5 years or so before it really will be drinking well.
