Recently had the Charles Krug 2007 Carneros it was a nice QPR wine with a mild amount of complexity and is widely available.
New Years Eve selections:
1999 Roederer L’Ermitage Anderson Valley
2002 Roederer L’Ermitage Anderson Valley
2007 Artesa Carneros Reserve Chardonnay
2001 Panino Brunello
2008 Banfi Rosa Regale
Great selections. I just bought Robert Voerizo barolo and some sherwin cab as well as allegrini amarone. Looking forward to it Let me know how your wines taste.
2002 L’Ermitage, exciting promise. I believe someone said “way ahead”, ahead but not way anymore. I’ll put this up to the Cristal Brut any day of the week. Nice and fresh.
2001 Panino, really a wine drinkers wine. Can’t believe Gary V liked this effort. The Hungarian cask is massive, definitely needs time to blow off. Really alot happening. Three days later under pressure still drank well. Old school Brunello, but the wood is on steroids.
2008 Banfi and dark chocolate what a nice match. 2008 seems drier than previous years. Lava cake Rosa Regale perfect pairing
There is a really nice spring floral component to this and a nice amount of red fruits, red raspberries, strawberries. Very pleasant.
2006 not 2007 Artesa blew me away, can’t believe the weight this picked up. Heavy malo, but it just exploded in the mouth. A lengthy lemon, vanilla pudding and butterscotch finish, was superb. 86 points WS, not on the same page with that rating. This was on the level with a really nice Beringer PR in a successful year. 91-93 point range wine.
Love your show. However, I do agree with some of the earlier comments that you should include more details in your reviews. I love learning about the history of different wines, and vines for that matter.
I love all the details I think you should do that all the time.
I have to agree with Jack, I think adding in the details is very beneficial.
Tresor is one of my favorite wines from Cali, great value at $35.
ferrari Carano not only makes great wine but also is one of the most beautiful vinyards in Cali,
